Import passwords to Seahorse

Writer Sophia Terry

I'd like to import all passwords saved in Firefox to Seahorse. Is there a procedure you'd suggest?

Firefox can export passwords to a CSV file.

I am not sure how to import from CSV to Seahorse. It expects some kind of XML, but I have no idea where to find its specification. In any case, it would require writing some script to convert from CSV to XML.

The other option would be to put together a keyring manually, based on keyring specifications (well known but complicated) then open it in Seahorse and give it a (master) password.

All painfully complicated solutions, to be sure.

The trouble is, once those passwords are in Seahorse/Gnome Keyring, they will not be accessible to Firefox AFAIK. That's why I use Keepass, and ignore Seahorse. Maybe someone will one day write a Firefox-accessible password manager that uses keyrings for storage, but I couldn't find one yet.

And the idea of allowing Firefox to use keyring passwords directly is a "won't fix"
